Indigenous peoples sustain family wellness through Native knowledge systems and traditional ways of knowing. These ways of knowing have been acquired through cumulative experience over millennia. Our program encourages and supports traditional child-rearing and parenting practices combined with contemporary models aimed at achieving family wellness in an effort to enhance the nurturing of culturally-healthy infants, children, parents, and families.

Our department also offers…
Under the American Indian Infant Health Initiative (AIIHI), our program offers a support network of Public Health Nurses (PHN), Community Nurses (RN) and trained Community Health Representatives (CHR) who can help with necessary family related services. Home visits are made in the comfort of your own home with special attention on the specific needs of your family.

Who is Eligible?
This program is designed for vulnerable Indian Families who are currently pregnant or parents/legal guardians (including fathers, grandparents, etc.) who have children under 5 years old.
